Clinical Studies of Therapies for Virus Infections

The goal of the antiviral clinical trials program is to facilitate the development of promising therapies for treating severe acute and chronic human viral disease that are deemed medically and scientifically important by the NIH-NIAID. This program facilitates advances in clinical antiviral therapy by rigorously evaluating the efficacy and safety of new therapeutic regimens for serious viral diseases in adult and pediatric immunocompromised and immunocompetent patient populations.

Valley Fever Vaccine Project

The Foundation’s primary objective is to discover an effective antigen to be used as a vaccine for coccidioidomycosis immitis, currently listed as a bio-terrorism agent. Discovery of promising proteins is underway with pre-clinical studies being conducted in six mycology centers nationwide. It is hoped that the vaccine will be used to prevent coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever) in the highly endemic populations of the U.S.
